Pork paradise or or beef bliss?

The smell of sausages permeates the Lewisburg Farmers Market as customers meander through the aisles, stopping to examine the produce and household items sold by local vendors. The Union County market, located on Fairground Road, just off Route 45, is home to nearly 100 booths.
But the sausage stand in the middle is clearly the busiest.

Every Wednesday, customers travel from all over Central Pennsylvania just for a taste of these renowned sausage sandwiches. Owned by the second generation of the Leitzel family, the stand sells up to 300 pounds of meat each week.
Although hot dogs and hamburgers are also for sale, the sausage sandwiches are the clear favorite, with up to 1,000 sold on some days.
Nine people usually work the stand, but the staff grows to 12 during summers, when demand increases.
"It's the best sausage sandwich around here," says Margie Reichard, of Lock Haven, Clinton County, who comes with her husband, Jim, and friends every Wednesday morning. "Lots of times we don't buy anything else."
